Pinterest and Crayons

So I'm sure you've seen them. The crayon melt art on the canvas on Pinterest. I finally went and got two small canvases from Michaels during their sale of BOGO (day after Black Friday). And yesterday I bought crayons at Wal-Mart.

So it's pretty easy to do, hot glue gun the crayons and then hold the blowdryer and melt. What I didn't account for was the spray from my blowdryer, lol! My blow dryer seriously needs a medium speed. Low won't heat it enough and high was blowing the wax but it was still fun. So instead of the 'drip' that you see on all the Pinterest pics, it goes drip and spray. But I personally love spray/splatter, so it's more my style!

Laid them out and glued (yeah not all even, but that's fine for me!)

Drip and spray! I love it. Part of me hated to waste brand new crayons lol, but it's so worth it.

And then I saw a flower type of crayon melt on Pinterest. They strip their crayons of the paper but I didn't want to mess with that. And I snapped the crayons in half (seriously, that felt wrong too!)

Put them in a circle. I alternated points and flats and did the colors twice. Again, gotta love personalization!

So they did not drip at all but splattered, but I think I like this more! I'm a splattery person lol :)

And if two projects were not enough, I did a crockpot ham and potato soup recipe off of Pinterest and it totally rocked! And I get to have it for leftovers today, yum! Yesterday was a Pinterest-y day!

  1. LOVE the crayon art (great splatter effect). I made one this summer and hung it in my classroom.
