Monday Made It: Bookmarks

Yay, I'm finally doing Monday Made It again :) I was used to the weekly and then I got busy and now it's once a month, though I'm sure I could choose any Monday in the month, but I want to do the first Monday of each month. I even wrote it down in my calendar planner from Paper Coterie.

Blog stuff is in blue. And blurred out stuff are the teachers I'm subbing for. I've already got a lot going on this month!

Ok, anyway, back to Monday Made It! Remember how I scored thousands   a ton of paint chips and I've really done nothing with them? I decided to make some more bookmarks, but fall ones.

I really liked these that I saw on Pinterest.

Now I was a little sad to read that the flowers were stamps. I don't have any cool stamps like that. Or material like that. So what did I do? I drew the flowers!

So I picked autumn colors: brown and orange swatches.

First attempt and I'm liking it!

On orange swatch. I love the names of the colors too!

Hole punched and with ribbon!

Paint Sample Bookmarks

Alright, I figured it's time I showed you one of the projects, well actually the only project, I've made with the paint samples. Don't worry Tara, I have a different project to share for Monday!

I think that these turned out pretty cute and are super cheap. I already had glue and a whole puncher, the paint samples were free, so the ribbon was the only thing I had to buy and I got it from the Dollar Tree. I think ribbon may be a new addiction for me. They had sooo many cute ones that I bought 4 or 5. Lime green, polka dots, cherry print, and more! Even the cashier commented on the cute ribbon and asked what they were for. I said, " I don't know but I had to have them!" And she knows I'm a teacher (Um, let's just say we're practically on a first name basis) and asked if would be for the kids.

Anyway...I chose two different paint samples, but both shades of blue. Sorry I didn't take pics of the process, but it's pretty simple. I just took a sample and cut it in half so that there were 4 colors on one half and 3 on the other half and I just saved one strip for another bookmark or project. Then I took the other shades of blue and cut it lengthwise in half.

I glued the skinny strip in the middle of the other color to make it pop. I punched a whole on top, threaded some ribbon, and voila!

See how it pops because of the middle strip?

I liked it a lot, so I tried it with green and one of the leftover blues, except it was 3 colors instead of 4. And I placed it with the blue bookmark.

I like the green one too.

I love that the bookmarks can be small or long. I think I like the four shade one better. I don't mind the paint color names, I think it's fun, but I guess you could always trim them off and make a skinny bookmark. I just think it adds to the whole thing though.

I also made two other projects yesterday, but I'll try and be good and save it for Tara's Monday linky parties :) I had fun with my mom for my birthday pedi too! I got the Hunger Games in hardcover and I got my own set of Magic Bullet. I love Magic Bullet! Smoothies in a minute and more! I've made breadcrumbs with it too.  Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Paint Chips Galore and More

So you know how I help at my friend's work once a month for a class? (Well if you didn't, you do now lol.) Anyway, we made water squirt tubes out of pvc pipe and it was a ton of fun. On the way out, I was glancing at the paint chip samples and even though I knew the answer would be yes, I asked if I could grab a handful, thinking that maybe next week (or two) I can get started on a project.

Well, yep, my answer was yes. Then my jaw dropped as my friend continued talking. She told me not only could I have a handful. I could have the WHOLE display of paint chip samples because they are going to be selling a new brand of paint at her store and not that brand anymore. In fact, she said they'd box them all for me and write my name on it. SCORE!!!!!!!!

Now that I'm going to have a gazillion paint samples, I'm going to have to figure out what to do with all them. So I hopped on my Pinterest and went straight to my Paint Chip DIY board I created to get some ideas.

Those are super cute, but I don't know if I have a flower punch. Ok on to the next idea.

Now that I am going to make! I like how the colors are layered too, more abstract looking.

I think when I get the load of paint chips, then I'll do something like this. I love how it looks!

Love this! Same concept as above, but with monogram. Again, I'll wait for my big supply :)

A paint chip calendar...I love it!

Now I've got other pins, but they're holiday related and some are card ideas, so I won't work on those yet. I also have seen some paint chip garlands that look cute.

Do you have any paint chip projects you've pinned? I'd love more ideas!

Oh before I forget, have you signed up for the "To Be Continued" Linky Party over at Michele's blog, The 3 AM Teacher? It's going to be a continuous story!

I'm participating and can't wait! So I get this little beauty:

You can still sign up but not much longer, so don't wait!
