Rain Forest Rumble

Hey everyone!

My room has transformed into a rain forest and I love it!

My kids walked into the room and spotted waterfall over the closet and the vine over the window. Here's a side by side shot.

Take some green streamers and twine around and you've got yourself some vines! Oh and that's Tara the Toucan. The kids voted on her name and I'm so glad they went with alliteration!

I thought that this hanging over the carpet would be a distraction, but they've done well!

Chester the Chimpanzee watches over the students haha!

My bulletin board outside has been a hit. Love these animals from Whimsy Workshop Teaching!

We read about the rain forest in my pack and the kids loved it.

I didn't pick this for the spelling, I picked it because they labeled and I didn't say they had to, makes this teacher heart happy!

They know their layers of the rain forest. Also, look at that sloth, so cute!
So sad we're wrapping up this unit, but only because it's the end of the year.

I only have 10 more school days with kids! I mean really, where did the school year go? It feels like not that long ago, I was scrambling to put together my room and now I'm almost done with my first year of teaching. Speaking of teaching...my next post will update you on what's happening next year!

Four Years Is a Long Time...

Hey everyone!

I sit here reminiscing about when I first began blogging. Why did I start blogging? I was a substitute teacher, fed up with no jobs for me to apply to and I felt like I was wasting my time when I had this passion to teach my own class. I felt like there was no one to talk to about this and just decided to blog.

That was almost four years ago (4 years on the 18th to be exact) and I cannot believe what has happened since that first day I typed out my feelings. I'm getting emotional as I type this and good thing you cannot see the tear drops.  Is it just me or is the screen blurry? Just me? That's what I thought lol.

Anyway, I started blogging. I had a few followers and that was amazing to me. Then I get asked to join Teaching Blog Addict and that's when everything changed for me. I made online bloggy friends. I gained more followers. I opened up a Teachers Pay Teachers store.

Friendships blossomed more, my store grew a little bigger, and then I went to Vegas two times and met my bloggy buddies in real life. And followers!

Now I'm in a temporary third grade position this year, living my dream job. But I don't know what is in store for me next year. Do I have my job? Do I get to stay in my school? I had to brush up my resume. I have to apply for other jobs just in case.  I don't know what is in store for me...for my job... for blogging... but I do know some things for sure.

I know that blogging four years ago was the best thing I ever did. I didn't know it then, but that one moment, that one decision, changed my life forever.

I know that I have made some of the best friends I have ever (and never) met. They've been there through the best times and my worst times. They're only a message/Google chat/text/ away.

I know that Teachers Pay Teachers has changed me forever. I've become a better teacher from it. My passion and zest for teaching is still going strong.

I also know that none of this would be possible without my viewers and followers. So I thank you and can't wait to celebrate my blogiversary later this week. Here's to another 4 years (or more!).

Brighten Up My World

Hey everyone!

I don't know if it's a teacher thing or what, but I love lamps! Yes, it just went Anchorman up in here haha! I got a Safco Vamp LED Flexible Neck Light from shoplet and I LOVE it!

I honestly haven't seen a lamp like this before. It can swivel, fold, has a usb port, can change from warm to cold light, and you can change how bright or dim it is.

Here it is folded

Extended out

I decided to try to open it all the way and it did!

Love that I can plug in my phone charger if I want to.

Touch of a button and the warmth and brightness change. Also, a touch turns it on or off!

Seriously one of the coolest lamps I've ever seen or used. Just a touch on the the icon and it's going!

**This is an honest review. All opinions are mine. I was sent the lamp to review in return of a review. Shoplet has other things besides office supplies like  stationary, and promotional products and more!
