Saying Goodbye To a Friend

It's been a tough last few days. A dear family friend of ours will be passing away on Monday.

In June, he lost all muscle use. It started with a pain in the shoulder, then scheduling a doctor's appointment, and by that night lost control of muscle in his face. The doctors found out he had a disease called Guillian-Barre Syndrome. He's mentally there and knows but can't move. They said it is reversible, but takes a LONG time.

Just two months ago Tony started getting better and breathing on his own. Last month he started moving again. He was breathing without the vent. for 12 hours at a time. Things were looking great.

Then last week they found him not breathing and unconscious. They did tests for brain damage and hoped for the best. He had severe brain damage and will be taken off life support Monday. They just want everyone to have a chance to say their goodbyes.

I will remember him for his kindness. This man would do anything for you. He even took a skunk from our backyard that we had caught by mistake! Lol. He built my parents' deck. Tony loved to cook and was pursuing his passion of being a chef. But he loved to laugh and smile. And that is how I will remember him.

Love you Tony. Watch over us from above!
